IGN's impressions of the live stage demo

10:00: This is real-time footage running on actual hardware, applause starts in the balcony once again. The Team Ninja logo appears. The director of the game will be playing as Itagaki narrates. Stage selection shows 8 stages! He says they are pretty far along in development -- Aqua Castle is the name of the stage they pause on. They were going to show a Japanese-themed castle but they had a little incident withe screens getting out, so they wanted to show something new, so they are gonna show Aqua Castle. Stage looks like venice.

10:02: Booming orchestral music sounds awesome, Ryu is fighting about 5 other ninjas. He chops off one guys head, and then chops his body in half before it can fall over. Blood is everywhere!

He's comboing and collecting orbs. After one encounter, he runs along the stage and over a bridge over the canal. His ninja magic just chops everyone to pieces -- 15 hit combo!

he swipes the scythe before putting it back to get the blood off it, and now he's running through a marketplace. Lots of fruit and barrels in the stands along side smash as he hits them. Yellow orbs float from dead bodies for him to collect.

10:05: He brings up a menu in the lower left to shirt between main and secondary throwing weapons. Now, in the next area, he faces enemies with guns and cannons -- some launch rockets at him. He summons magic and lights one of them one fire, they scream as they walk around on fire until collapsing. Pieces of bodies are just flying everywhere.

10:07: Looks similar to Ninja Gaiden Sigma in overall graphical fidelity -- but with more going on.

Now, two giant winged creatures attack. He bring out the Wolverine-like claws to take them on. Another 16 hit combo, and he swipes off the blood and gets moving again.

Here comes a boss! A giant spider like mutant drops and it fades to black as the logo reappears with the tagline "vengeance begins 2008." Itagaki thanks the audience and takes his leave to more applause.

Awesome stuff!

Anyway, the screenshots in HD looks AMAZING. Now I see what he meant with a different art style, looks great.

I played NG Sigma a bit yesterday, and I kept using Dragon's Claw & Tiger's Fang just so it could feel like NG2 with great visuals and new weapon :P
I will play much more today too :D

That alone made me much more excited for the game.

And...published by Microsoft huh...that is sooooo bad for PS3 only owners, they were looking forward to this bad boy.

But I guess we need this kind of genre to be exclusive, especially with Ninja Gaiden, while they have Heavenly Sword and God of War.

PS. Anyone know when they are gonna show the footages from NG2 that the press saw them?

Hahahahaha, Ryu seriously, that's enough, the guy is suffering so much :D

30 hours of stress of Very Hard and Master Ninja difficaulty? wow!

One thing that I want Itagaki to do with the items and weapon selection is that we should be able to switch weapons anytime in gameplay and not go through menu, its a bit tiring to do so.

And I thought the item choosing for NG Sigma was great were you choose your items such as elixir and the ninpo power orbs with the d-pad, quick and simple.

The only thing I don't like about NG2 is...that big weapon like grim reaper, not my kind. I was hoping for like another cool katana or sword like weapon.

Anyway, weapons of choosing, that wont be mine.

all about this game sounds cool. Now locations do not look as claustrophobic, which is very cool. Also 30 hours of gameplay, cutting off limbs

Hopefully Microsoft will send their ninja-engineers to make this game look as good as possible!

Aren't all of Team Ninja's games for Xbox (including the original Xbox) published by Microsoft? Not very surprising..

Game sounds very hot. Very near the top of my most wanted list. The gore is fantastic.

Kinda, they aren't part of MGS, but MS have spoken before about assisting Tecmos publishing of their Xbox/360 games, they've definitely assisted.

I know they're not a first/second party, but I'm pretty sure all of Team Ninja's Xbox games are published by MGS.

IIRC NG and DOAs were published in Japan and NA by Tecmo and by Microsoft in Europe... Now Microsoft is a direct publisher, so that changes things a bit.
