It's been quite a long time since our last first 10 minutes, and since a story heavy game like Heavenly Sword is most appropriate for these videos I bought the game on saturday. 2 more videos will follow during the week, along with my impressions.
Update: Second part is online, with a lot of not so precise Sixaxis gameplay.
Update3: Third and last part available.

Pretty bold words. I have a feeling Heavenly Sword will out sell Sigma its first week (According to VGcharts its only sold 160k units). After playing all of NG's releases, I've never been compelled to buy one. Guess a lot of people felt the same way seeing as it only sold around 1.2mil world wide.

Well I love Itagaki and the NG series, but seriously he needs to shut up if he wants to keep his reputation for one of the best in the busniess with his games.
I can say that NG is one cheap ass AI game for sure, there I said it.
I for one love Heavenly Sword, one of the reason I bought it, so its not half-asses, its "limited" :P.
But yeah all this bashing against DMC4 and now HEavenly Sword, lets see what the hell he is going to do with NG2.
At least other companies made a effort to twitch the gameplay quite a lot, so Itagaki needs to add quite a lot cool things to its gameplay!
TGS!!

@Sath
To be fair, he never really bashed DMC3/4, that was Yousuke Hayashi, the director of NG Sigma.

Heavenly Sword will outsell NG for sure. Its a far more accessible game and a lot more forgiving. At the moment this game will be seen as the PS3's God of War and I think because of that it will sell extremely well. I for one look forward to playing it when I eventually get a PS3.

I have tremendous respect for Ninja Gaiden, and I think it's the showcase for non-hack and slash gameplay. It's the game people want Dynasty Warrors and N3 to be when they complain about the AI, the clear distinction between the Streets of Rage school of games and *something else*.
Thing is though that Itagaki seems to really confuse direction with progress. It's weird that he doesn't complain about Virtua Fighter, but at the same time it's the most revered fighter like.. probably ever.. so I guess there's a limit to even his arrogance. However, I remember his comments back when VF4 came out and Sega went back to flat arenas with clear ring outs. Itagaki's comments sounded a lot like DOA with its elaborate arenas was the *future*, and that while he respected what Sega was doing they were essentially "stuck in time".
The same thing is true now with Ninja Gaiden. Team Ninja has taken a certain path with it, having a very controlled environment, limited numbers of enemies and having the combat and interaction with one enemy be very sophisticated. Instead of recognizing the merits in having larger quantities of enemies and having to dispatch them all without taking damage, he immediately dismisses that as "old".
It's once you realise this that he doesn't sound so much like a prick anymore. Or, rather, he still sounds like a prick, but you realise how smart he is and how his ideas and opinion are pretty well founded. He steps in new directions while still playing very much by "hardcore" rules. No fluff, everything is circular and has risk/reward, everything is absolutely useful in a very arcadey Streets of Rage way, but it's applying a lot of modern philosophies to it.
He seems to look at games like Tekken and God of War and firmly believes that's the wrong way to make a game, and that's his springboard for making new ones that in his opinion are better in every way. I guess that's just how he works.

Anyways, Ninja Gaiden is IMO the best of its kind. So there's more weight to his words that way.
Now he also said “I’ve never played a good game where the developers put a big icon of the button you’re supposed to press onscreen,”
Which tells us he doesn't like Shenmue nor RE4...WTF?!?!?

I just think he's upset because heavenly sword wasnt as heavily influenced by NG as say, God of War. :p

but ok then, he's praised Virtua Fighter too on different occasions, even said there would be no DOA without it(duh!). Your move Shurlock.
and in DMC case, I haven't read a interview where he came out and bashed it. He always said it was fine, not really bashing, but not really praising either. The only one that took cheap shots publicly towards DMC was Hayashi from what I can remember.
